Our telehealth online counseling let’s you work with your therapist much like you would in person, only through a secure video-based therapy. Telehealth counseling makes getting help easy, because you can meet from any private place where you feel comfortable talking. It saves you time and gas not having to commute to our office; and, if you’re not feeling well, or are home caring for an ill child or family member, you don’t have to miss your session. It also lets us help those living outside of the Matthews area. Since it’s a lot like using Facetime or Skype, you may already be familiar with talking to someone this way. Insurance companies in NC currently cover telehealth sessions the same as in-person sessions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yes! Tele-play therapy has even been shown to be as effective as in-person play therapy for young children. Since this type of therapy is much like Facetime, many children are already comfortable with this way of connecting. We’ll send you a play therapy kit with items we often use in our tele-play sessions, and other materials, as needed. You’ll provide your child with a private space in which to talk with us. We use many of the same play therapy techniques in tele-play as we do in the office.

Yes! Teens often really like this way of working with us, because it’s similar to how they connect with their friends. It also means that they don’t have to interrupt their schedules to travel to the office; but instead can hang out in their room, or wherever they are comfortable and have privacy, and have the session from there!
